Until Next Time

Hello lovlies,

In an attempt to not study for finals I have decided to write this post.  It makes me sad thinking about what I have to say.  The short version is: Stylishly Yours is done.  This is the last post.  Thank-you for reading and supporting my blog, helping me grow as a person, and giving me amazing opportunities.  I owe a lot to you guys.

For the longer version, for all four of you who want a longer explanation as to why it's all ending, here it is.  Basically, I cannot keep up with the blog for the majority of the year.  In this new phase of my life, university, I find it hard to balance everything and Stylishly Yours just does not make the cut.  I know over the five years, this has been a constant excuse on my behalf.  Sometimes I felt uninspired, leading to the lack of content.  However, the thought of ending my blog was never an option.  It was always a safety net and I would always come back to it after a few months of struggling.  I am still extremely passionate about things like fashion and make up, so maybe in the future I will start up another fashion blog or instagram.  For the time being, this project is too time consuming.  I'm trying to make the most of my young years and as much as I want to continue blogging, my heart is not fully in it anymore.  By that I mean, this blog is no longer my style.  It is very much my 16 year old self and I have no drive to give it a make over that will accurately reflect me.  My style has evolved a lot with this blog and I am so happy that it has the way it did.  I guess I'm just trying to say that this blog no longer feels like it's me.  There is no longer room for growth.

Now I just want to take time to acknowledge that this blog is an amazing tool that I have used.  I look back on my old adventures and I just love the fact that some people watched me grow into the 18 year old I am now.  Thank you for all the guest posters and friends I have made.  I honestly wish I was as involved as I was in when I was in the early stages of my blog.  Another thanks to all the companies that reached out to me and sent me things throughout my years of blogging.  Thanks to blogger awards for recognizing my blog.  This whole thing was so fun to do.  5 years of work and I am proud to say that Stylishly Yours was a big part of my life for an extremely important phase of my life.  But, as for everything, it's time to move on.

If you ever want to reach out to me, you can shoot me a message on my tumblr, heartsicked, and I promise to answer (if it's not fanmail - I don't receive those notifications).  It's been real.

Style Diary: Graduation (June 26, 2014)

Hi everyone,

So as promised as part of my last set of posts, this is what I wore to my graduation.  I am so sorry for this being delayed (ever sorrier that I meant to post this in December, it's just been sitting in my drafts!!).  Anyways, I realized I won't be able to do any Holiday outfit posts (.... this was written awhile back) and I am so sorry about that.  I don't really have anywhere to go during the holidays, so that's the real reason.  Anyways, here is what I wore to my high school graduation, at the end of the post I get sappy, so once you've read the outfit details feel free not to care anymore.

Dress: Zara Lace Pencil Tube Dress -- Last season (Similar)
Shoes: Jimmy Choo Pela -- Last Season (Different Colour)

Not Clearly Shown:

Ok so here's the sappy part, that people probably don't want to read but I'm sentimental about this blog so I'll for sure say it regardless if anyone is reading it.  Anyways, I started this blog when I was a freshman in high school.  I was fourteen years old, and to be honest, my knowledge on the areas of fashion and beauty were from watching hours of YouTube videos.  I'm going to make a longer post about the end blog by the end of the month.  I've been delaying it because I don't want to say goodbye to Stylishly Yours.  Back to the point.  Fourteen-year old Emily was a terrible writer, and in her awkward years but the creation of Stylishly Yours has grown as I grew up.  Now, I sit in a college dorm, about to finish my first semester of university and it's surreal to think how much progress in all parts of my life I have made.  Thank-you to everyone who read a single post or clicked on my blog by accident.  It means a lot.  I will for sure get sappier in the good-bye post so prepare yourself.

Style Diary : Prom (June 24, 2014)

Hello everyone,

So, this post is long overdue... 6 months overdue almost.  I still wanted to post it, even though I really wanted to retire my blog in the summer.  I've decided to do 4 more posts: my graduation outfit (also overdue), Holiday outfits, updated beauty products, and my good-bye post.  I'm now in university and I turn 18 in 9 days (I'm freaking out) so it's been a great 4 years, but Stylishly Yours is soon to end, at least temporarily.  Who knows what the future holds, but I will save that for the good bye post.  Here is what I wore to prom.

Sorry, the pictures aren't really outfit-focused but I hope you enjoyed this post.  It made me feel nostalgic about senior year.  Anyways, my graduation post will probably be up next week.  It is finals month, so be patient with me.  By the second week of January comes, the final four posts should be up!  Thanks so much for reading.  Let me know about your prom experiences in the comments.

Style Diary: Graduation Garden Party (June 9th, 2014)

Hey guys,

Sorry I've been missing lately!  Not only did I lose my card reader and cord that connects my camera to my computer, but I've also been insanely busy with school work and university prep.  Please excuse the lack of posts over the last two weeks.  Anyways, at my school, there's a little garden party for the graduates, so I thought it would be a good time to share a little outfit of the night post.  By the way, if you go to a garden party at night... wear bug spray, my biggest mistake.

Dress: Zara (a while ago) // Shoes: Payless Shoes (2 years ago) - Similar Pair // Bag: Marc by Marc Jacobs

So that is it for this week's post!  Next week is super exciting for me and please be patient with me to get the posts out.  Anyways, next week is my prom and graduation but since it is also Canada day weekend I may be at the cottage meaning there's a chance I will be too busy with fireworks to upload any posts.  I do promise style diaries of my prom and graduation outfits though, so bare with me.  I love y'all and thank you so much for reading.  I'm trying to balance everything to the best of my ability thank you for your understanding xox

The 1975 Concert | May 6, 2014

Hey guys,

Sorry there was no post last week.  I've been super busy with school and university stuff that I just didn't have time to do a quick post.  I actually have to make a post about the future of my blog because it does look like Stylishly Yours is coming to an end this year but I'll get into that in about a month or so, definitely keep your eye out for that post.  Anyways, this week I took a break from all my exhausting work to witness The 1975 in concert.  I absolutely love this band and their whole style and aesthetic so I was looking forward to this concert for months.

I came late to the concert so I came during the end of Sir Sly's set. The three songs I heard were really good and I highly recommend the band.  I managed to catch all of Bad Suns' set though and it was absolutely amazing.  I have their EP, Transpose so I definitely recommend their music.  Salt and Cardiac Arrest are probably their most popular songs and worth the listen.

Finally, The 1975 came out.  I am literally in love with Matty Healy and I had the pleasure of meeting him a few months back by complete fluke while going to a Two Door Cinema Club concert.  He's one of the sweetest and genuine people I have ever met.  The 1975 put on a great show.  It was a fun little dance party with great energy.  The crowd was a bit pushy, thank God I wasn't close to the front, but I was comfortable and everyone just acted like best friends in my section.  It was an amazing experience and show.  The videos in order below are my favourite music video ever, Robbers (kind of want this life), and the live performance of probably my all time favourite and their most famous song, Sex.  I would totally recommend spending your money on seeing them live.  Their music is good, the crowd is good, it's all good.

Thank you so much for reading today's post.  I'm so sorry for being so busy lately.  I am trying my hardest to create quality posts because I would much rather have a well written post than no post at all.  Leave me a comment on your thoughts about The 1975, all opinions are welcome.  I love y'all xx

The Neighbourhood Concert - March 22nd, 2014

Hiiiii,

So a few weeks ago I went to the Neighbourhood's concert!  Oddly enough, this was my third time seeing them live but their first headlining show where I live.  I was super sick but I honestly went because I've been dying to get the Neighbourhood hoodie and I missed out the first two times (I did end up getting one this time).

My concert outfit | Top: Aritizia (old) // Flannel: Tommy Hilfiger (old & my dad's) // Jeans: American Apparel // Shoes: Steve Madden (old)

I was actually kind of late to the concert so I missed the opening acts.  I ended up being pretty close to the front considering I got there pretty late.  The Neighbourhood was amazing live, as always however, it did suck a lot that the concert ended at 10:15 especially when they have a full album, a few EPs and a new album coming out they could have filled up the time.  The crowd was mainly teenage girls so there was a lot of pushing.  I did have a good time, despite being super sick.  Below is a video of the Neighbourhood's most popular song "Sweater Weather" performed at my concert.  If you like their sound, I would check out the songs A Little Death, Lurk, Let it Go and their new song for the new Spiderman movie, Honest.

Thank you so much for reading this post.  Be sure to leave comments below about what you think of the Neighbourhood.  I love you all, you mean the world to me.  Have an amazing week, until next time xx.
